HIV/AIDS

In India, according to government statistics, which are considered to be conservative, put the number of people living with HIV/AIDS at up to 5.5 million in 2007, of whom some 2,00,000 were said to be children under age fifteen. The current study of the state Government shows that out of 23 districts in the state, Guntur district is highly affected with HIV/AIDS.

GOMT runs Two Programs

  • Prevention
  • Community based Care and Support

Prevention We conduct Awareness Camps, Rallies, Supply Education Materials and provide Correct Information to prevent HIV/AIDS. To reduce the risk of HIV transmission we use basics to aware people. HIV is only spread through the following body fluids

  • Blood
  • Semen
  • Vaginal Fluids
  • Breast Milk

The most common ways HIV is passed from one person to another are

  • Reusing and Sharing Needles
  • Unprotected Sex
  • Mother-to-Child
  • During Pregnancy, During Birth, or through Breast Feeding

Community based Care and Support for infected people with basic necessities of life food grains, free medicines and income generation programs to sustain their life. Children who are affected by the parents were taking care and provide all their needs. There is still so much to be done for children and young adults to realise of this disease. GOMT actively working to save hundreds of children from getting HIV through intervention programs.
